Had a Blast drawing this:) I set up each drawing on separate layers AE and then moved the camera around to simulate depth. Still learning...I hope to utilize this technique for story telling purposes on my next project:)

Scandal! We've all heard it, and it just sends a chill right down our spines:) The idea that somebody somewhere is doing something they shouldn't be makes the rest of us feel ok about doing the boring thing everyday. It's our entertainment in a way.
Sometimes, when I'm at my most paranoid, I start to think that all those amazing writers for our favorite shows, are actually crafting elaborate stories and events for our politicians and tv personalities, to get themselves in the papers and on TV.
Crazy right? Maybe yes, maybe no:)

Color! Giver of life! Destroyer of time! I do so enjoy polishing characters!
So much so that the early drawings often suffer. After my good friend Tam gave some nice critiques on the piece last week I got down to business making those tweaks...and promptly got bored with the line work and decided to do some color flats. Ya know, just to see what it would look like....I woke up two hours later on my keyboard and the characters were all polished and stuff, however, you can still see some of the shoddy line work I failed to fix. Bleh. I still like it and all...but it could be so much more. I've also been toying around with a new technique called, "not drawing backgrounds" I like it. But I think it lacks popular appeal:)

Still refining my marvel homage, and toying around with a different rendering style,
lineless art, which, let me tell you, is difficult as hell. All those joyfull scribbles and general mishmash that I usually fall back on with line art is not even remotely plausible with lineless art. It either works or it does not. It really forces you to get in there and find that planar information, Aurthur De Pins is easily the best modern artist I know of that works in this fashion, however if we look into the past, it inevitably leads back to Norman Rockwell, This guy's planar infomation was just nuts, I mean he did everything incredibly well, but those planes!
That depth! Geez! Anyways here is an okay character doodle, demonstrating what I am going for, I am happy with the head but I get lazy from the neck down, Are those feet or flippers?! Ha! Muchos Gracias to my buddy Tam for a much needed critique on last weeks sketch. Maybe next week I'll have it finished:)

Working on some expression recognition, It still feels a bit ambivalent.
her pose needs to be harder and maybe push his face more. We'll see what I cant fix tomorrow.

Animatic Short "Leonard"

My favorite story so far, it is also by far the most ambitious thing I've ever decided to do. It's the story of an old treasure hunter who makes the discovery of a lifetime, but finds he may have gotten got more than he bargained for.
I Can't wait to get this done. This animatic took me about a week to finish.
Might take about 10 seconds to load.

Alright i'll admit it, this thing is sappy as all get out, BUT, you gotta admit,
it would be a great digital greeting card for the right person. Thanks to my buddy Phil Towney for the quick ad lib vocals over the top, it wouldn't be nearly as effective without the song...or as sappy;)

One of my favorite creations! Professor U! He's basically a popsicle stick
with a mustache and glasses, but he has this peculiar...charm let's call it.
Just looking at him makes me happy. This is another look development/pitchidea I did
